Salesforce admin salaries are a hot topic. Historically, the demand for Salesforce administrators has remained constant, driven by growthSales force economics. More Salesforce customers, more admins required, right?
Surprising findings, collected by theSalesforce Talent Ecosystem Report, stated that there was a global drop in Administratordelivery(20% less in established markets and 16% in emerging markets). This added to the slowest demand growth the report had recorded in its five years.
What's behind the numbers? It could be argued that the "traditional" view of the Salesforce admin has changed. Administrators are tasked with a broader range of responsibilities that come with different job titles; basically, the Salesforce admin role has a different job title.
We are confident that the Salesforce admin role will experience a resurgence. Low-code is here to stay: Salesforce improves its “click-free” setup with each release. In addition, fields for administrators, such as DevOps, will continue to open up, very much in the spirit of the 2020s.

Factors Influencing Salesforce Administrator Salary
A single salary number can be misleading without context. Certain factors can cause salary differences between one professional and another. We will address the following factors in this guide:
- Experience (Seniority)
- certifications
- Generalists vs. specialists
- Location
Experience (Seniority)
As with any job, the more experience and responsibility you take on, the higher your salary expectations will be.
We have defined a junior/mid/senior administrator based on years of experience and the types of activities they perform in our guide:

certifications
Salesforce professionals love to wincertifications– they are a milestone in your career that shows that you know what you are talking about. Certifications can potentially be used as leverage when seeking a higher position internally or for a position at another company.
The annual professional survey asked respondents which certifications are likely to increase your value as a Salesforce professional.
- 18% believe that owning the Salesforce Certified Power Admin is likely to increase their value (#6).
- Closely followed by Salesforce Certified Administrator, with whom 16% of respondents agree (Rank 7).
Use:In the previous edition of the report, the Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator was ranked seventh. Salesforce Certified Administrator didn't even make the top 10.

More generally, the survey also asked if they experienced a salary increase after earning (any) certification:
- 67% did, reporting an average pay increase of 21%
- 33% did not, their salaries stayed the same
Use:In the previous edition of the report, the breakdown was 63% and 37% was not. While the positive percentage is higher, the average salary increase dropped from 26% to 21%.
The possibility of your salary increasing as you earn more certifications cannot be ignored.Butit should be taken with a "pinch of salt" along with the other factors.

Generalists vs. specialists
There are several management career paths based on specific skills. Administrators typically start by mastering Sales Cloud and can then move into a specialization, e.g. CPQ, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
We'll dive into specs in more detail later in this guide. An organization looking for a manager with experience in more than one platform area will expect you to offer a higher salary, especially for a less common product mix! However, understanding best practices through multiple feature sets and business analytics is also attractive to businesses you don't want to lose.
Location
Salary numbers are affected by location due to differences in cost of living between countries, and within countries (US).good example of this economic influence).
Converting all salaries to US$ facilitates geographic comparison. Senior administrators in the US reported a median salary of around $132,000. UK managers earn an average of $64,500, Spain $41,000 and Australia $82,000. Please note that the US dollar is very strong against £ and € at the time of writing.
How to Improve Your Salesforce Administrator Salary
If you want to increase your salary, this section is for you. Here are the tipsChristine (MVP and longtime Salesforce admin)and I want to share it with everyone who wants to accelerate this race.
- to specialize
- Accept certifications
- Keep skills "on demand"
- Work in the right role and on the right team
- Become self-sufficient
Tip 1: Specialize
There are various management career paths that follow a specialized skill set. Mid-level admins often work with Sales Cloud or a variety of clouds (Sales + Service Cloud, etc.), which can lead to specialization, e.g. CPQ, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Combine multinube capabilitiesstand out in the market. An organization looking for a manager with experience in more than one platform area will expect you to offer a higher salary, especially for a less common product mix.
There are about 30 Salesforce specializations, most of which are perfectly feasible for a Salesforce admin. Some majors require less study time, while others are more demanding and pay more in terms of the "trade" tokens they give you in your career.
We open this guide and notice that the "traditional" view of the Salesforce admin has changed. These "admin-side roles" have grown while the supply of "Salesforce admins" has dwindled. Some examples are Business Analyst (+33%), Consultant (+17%) and Solution Architect (+13%) (Those). This shows the movement towards specialization.
Tip 2: Get certified
Certifications are oftenreceived with skepticism. Can someone who passes an exam really know what they are talking about?
Experience will always take precedence over certifications, however, certifications bolster your experience by reinforcing your knowledge of Salesforce best practices.
Studying for a certification exam requires discipline. You'll cover each topic in depth, and more importantly, you'll learn the trade-offs between different configuration options and how to use them (for example, record types vs. page layouts).
You may find features or concepts in the study guide that you are unfamiliar with if you are a junior administrator in a single organization.
With a growing number of Salesforce certifications, once you pass the Salesforce administrator exam, you have a "jump point" across multiple certifications. Depending on the skills you want to promote, you can choose between:
- Platform App Builder- Demonstrate your knowledge of building custom apps on the Salesforce platform with clicks, not code.
- Ventas Cloud Advisor: A deep dive into all the features that make up Sales Cloud.
- cloud services advisor.
- Salesforce CPQ Specialist: Prepare to implement complex trade-to-cash business models and requirements.
- business analyst: Demonstrate your skills in getting business requirements clear, facilitating project discovery, mapping processes, and creating user stories.

While certifications may not directly increase your salary, they do allow you to be considered for jobs that require that level of credibility; In other words, having certifications on your resume allows you to get your foot in the door as you receive a competent candidate. 90% of people with certifications believe they make you more marketable (Those).
Tip 3: Nurture In-Demand Skills
Released in 2022, theSalesforce Admin Skills Kitis a model created by Salesforce that outlines the 14 key skills needed to be a great Salesforce administrator. In addition to the usual administrative tasks (eg user management, security administration, process automation), you will find many "softer" skills (eg communication, attention to detail, business analysis).

These "softer" aspects could be considered "on demand" abilities because you may not be able to predict when a situation will arise where you need to exercise these abilities. They are not planned as part of a typical daily routine and require an intuition that cannot be taught.
It goes without saying that they are incredibly valuable, especially since these situational skills ensure that you are noticed by managers in the organization and respect you. He can quickly become indispensable, becoming an adviser to many colleagues.
You may find that you are the only administrator, which is common in smaller organizations where budgets for the number of employees are limited. Wear these many "hats" in style.
Tip 4: Work in the right role and on the right team
Although this is easier said than done, working in the right environment can help you take it to the next level. When it comes to deciding between an individual admin or a team admin, there are pros and cons, and yes, as you can see, it completely depends on the organization itself.
Advantages | Disadvantages | |
---|---|---|
admin only | Autonomy in your role, increased decision-making authority, and a reputation as a Salesforce subject matter expert throughout the organization. | The organization you work with may limit the products/use cases it finds. The budget for additional purchases/development work is likely to be limited. |
Management team | Quickly move up to mid-level administrator with the right support. Managers (or more experienced administrators) could advise you and delegate tasks that improve your skills, e.g. Explain best practices in a specific scenario. | Set clear expectations that you want to be challenged, or risk being pigeonholed by working only on a small part of the overall Salesforce operation. |
A team environment means you can venture further into the unknown and still have their support. Just be sure to first identify the organization's culture and promotional opportunities.
Senior administrators could work in one for larger companiesProduct Owners Position, leading a team or external parties to oversee the development of the Salesforce organization. If you are a mid-level freelance manager, you may want to consider looking for a job position that fits these criteria.
Tip 5: Become self-sufficient
While it's important to have the right work environment and equipment around you, you need to know where to find the answers.
If you are faced with questions or a complicated solution, you need to know what you are doing.Don't know- Yeah, that's not a typo.
As a mid-level administrator, you should be able to describe your problem using the correct terminology and investigate all possible solutions in your investigation (don't jump to the first answer that seems feasible).
Summary
There's no question that Salesforce admins deserve their reward: they perform a core function that enables companies to extend Salesforce beyond declarative setup (point-and-click), to build apps and thereby streamline business operations. .
This guide has put what your salary should be (or could be) into context with information to back up that number, so you're armed with the information you need when asking for a raise or applying for a new job.
